Vitality Arts: Intermediate/Advanced Wheel Throwing Pottery 8 Week Course

The theme of this class is –slow down and refinement. Over this 8-week course students will be prompted to focus on a few forms to refine and develop. Demonstrations will provide techniques and tips to boost the confidence of each student in their chosen forms. Constructive critiques throughout the session will help participants clarify goals as well as grow from the feedback of their peers. Shift your focus from learning fundamentals to developing a more critical eye or join us to focus on a few select forms and enjoy your winter at a bit slower pace! Beginning experience throwing on the pottery wheel required. Included in the cost is everything you need while you are in class: basic pottery tools, buckets, clay and glazes, firing, discounted open studio opportunities.

Part of the process in wheel throwing is basic studio etiquette. Your class time includes not only throwing, but also cleaning your wheel and surrounding floor area and clay tools that were used. Clay is messy - leave your watches and rings at home. Please bring a towel to wipe your hands and wear an apron/clothes you can get dirty (clay does wash out). A clean studio is a healthy studio as clay dust can build up.
