Our first virtual camps in the summer were a great success and left us wanting more! It was such a joy to "see" & get to interact with the campers. Our virtual format worked well. In fact, it turned out to be a great way for our campers (who tend to be a wide age range with varying needs) to receive individualized instruction in the context of a group. Some campers created independently while parents were at work. Many families, especially those with younger children found that they enjoy doing things together as a family at their own pace. Some campers worked live with me, and others followed along with the recorded sessions. This Art Camp offered a way to meet all those needs!
For this camp, we will again be using Google Meets* as our primary platform. Each session will be presented via a secure link provided each morning. In addition, an invitation to join a private camp Facebook group* will also be included. Miss Karen will be Live recording lessons to this group, allowing real-time viewing, nanny camp style to parents. This also creates a nice group feeling for those who choose to utilize the recorded videos while ensuring a measure of privacy for the Meets campers (only Miss Karen appears on camera). We will be using the Facebook group all week as a supplementary form of communication. Camper families can post candids & finished masterpieces. Miss Karen will use it to post camp related things like reminders, what's up next, prep work & household items needed, fun photos, and as a home for a virtual gallery of finished artwork. Camp kits will be packaged with all of the supplies needed for four main projects (basic household items & found objects may be needed) and a bonus project. Kits will be available for pick-up Wed 12/23, Sat 12/26 & Sun 12/27 so that all campers have everything they need for their first day of camp. Family participation is encouraged, but please bear in mind that each kit is intended for one artist and order your kits accordingly. Each kit costs $150 + tax.

** We chose Google Meets after researching (both reading reviews and articles & talking with parents, students, educators, and other business owners) and personally trying out many different platforms. It is very important to us that our virtual workshops are not just fun, but also have the same level of concern for your privacy as our in-person workshops. Google Meets seems to be the best balance of user friendliness and security for a business our size.
