Description

This one-day class invites you to think critically about color in your photographs.  We'll briefly overview the history of color photography, from early trials in 3-color process by Thomas Sutton to the digital pixel palettes of today's Photoshop world.  Then we'll go hands-on, making photographic stories that challenge our interpretation of color.  You'll discover what makes a great color vs black & white photograph, and become familiar with critical terms like luminance, saturation and hue.

By the end of the day, you'll significantly enhance your creative toolbox with a deeper understanding of color concepts, how it relates to composition and mood, and how to employ color towards blazing your own visual style.

Who should take this class?

This workshop is ideal for students who want to deepen their understanding and implementation of color in their work.  High-level camera skills are not necessary, but knowledge of basic manual operation is recommended.
